iβm back from my lovely trip to the midwest. two big take aways: thereβs no pride like Michigan Pride and Chicago is a madly underrated city, wow. also, as a transit nerd, the loop is brilliant.
anyways, lots of albums dropping this week, so get excited. this year has been new-music-galore :,) happy listening to you all.

Bloom - Benja, Glitter Party
Itβs a happy Saturday and your friends are coming over, you put this song on the speakers, tidy up the house, water your plants, and giddily await their arrival. Itβs smiley, comforting, and feels like spring. Who doesnβt love a feel-good track like this? And that cosmic guitar effect elevates the track to a new level.

I Wish I Was Joking - MGMT
I wish I was joking about about this album art, but alas itβs real. This track sings so gently, so delicately, so echo-y. The vocal effects on the chorus tickle my eardrums in the best way. A kind of crunchy, underwater distortion that works perfectly in the track. To add to it all, the lyrics are sung in different vocal styles as the track progresses, giving it that classic MGMT (electric) feel. Also, that belchy laugh/cough at the end is hilarious.

When It Rains - On Dogs
Jangily bedroom atmospheric indie pop. Despite the lush sound, its lyrics are quite heartbreaking. It reads like a longing, self-depricating poem, but the juxtaposition of the sound makes it almost feel optimistic. So use this track to help move past that emotional rain cloud you may be under.

i donβt really feel it anymore - glaive
The high-pitched vocal arrangments used throughout the track remind me of something Flume would do. I love how those vocals start off isolated, only to then be buried in the instrumental. Glaive know hows to create an electronic soundscape like youβve never heard before. Their rap verse comes as a surprise, but a pleasant one.

On Our Way To The Rave - Ducks Ltd.
TIME FOR NOISYYY RIFFS. A California surf rock sound reminding me of my childhood summers at the beach. I love the title of the track because the instrumental is pretty much an indie rockerβs version of a brain-melting rave. As soon as you hit play on this, the clouds will part and make way for that bright summer sun.
