i’ve been anticipating this upcoming Bleachers album, having loved every single. this could be a goodbye album for the band which makes me a bit emo. my first ever concert was a Bleachers show, so they hold a special place in my heart <3.
we’re nearing the end of season 3 for zadiohead! for those new here, every 20 weeks i start a new season! nothing changes for you. it’s still the same email in your same inbox, buuut I slightly change up the branding and aesthetic. similar to when artists tease a new album. i also like to add/remove/modify features, so please comment/email any ideas, suggestions, feedback, etc!
to my spotify-ers, after 3.20, all the season 3 songs will head to the archives playlist and the current season 3 playlist will turn into the season 4 one. simple as that!
ZADIOCAST: Albums dropping this Friday, March 8th 🥁
Ariana Grande: Eternal Sunshine
Bleachers: Bleachers [indie pop]
The Libertines: All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade [uk garage rock]
CD Wallet - HOMESHAKE
A gentle song that goes from sounding like a soft rain drizzle to a thunderstorm. I love the switch-up from acoustic to noise rock. The singer’s (endearingly) wheezy voice shows the raw vocal emotion. I love it when vocals have odd characteristics like this. Makes listening so enjoyable.

Petroleum - Yard Act
This sophomore album by Yard Act is littered with James Smith’s nostalgic storytelling done in a talk/singing style with his lowww register. And don’t worry, there are some high harmonies and ringing electric guitar in the latter half of the track to keep you pulled in. But, there’s something about his voice. I could listen to him tell stories for hours. The most funky cacophonous outro you’ll ever hear closes out this track. It’s chaotic but it just works.
‘Blackpool Illuminations’ on this album is 7+ minutes of Smith rhythmically talking through a childhood story, and I can’t stop listening to it. If you’re a more adventurous listener, give it a go.

Out Loud - Cage The Elephant
This song is quite emotional and gut-wrenching once you read the lyrics and learn about the lead singer’s backstory with mental health and arrest. I love the switch between low and high registers, the higher throws me back to listening to Melophobia in 2013. What an era. I can’t wait for this album.
Alright, I added this album art rating system to keep my venting to a minimum in these blurbs, but what is going on here? This looks like something in a wealthy neighborhood’s bad gallery featuring meaningless art (i.e. Laguna Beach). Okay phew got that out of the way.

Are you like me? - Bats
Aw. Twangy, indie, heartfelt, jangly goodness. A country, plucky guitar arrangement paired with dreamy vocals. The songwriting is powerful, exploring the idea of wondering if your love makes the same mistakes you do. Convincing yourself you’re alone in your madness, but toying with the idea that maybe your lover was just like you in those ways. A wonderful album well worth the listen.

📡💥 the ZADIOHIT of the week is…
Are You Looking Up - Mk.gee 🏆
This song has not left my rotation. If you’re familiar with Dijon, you might genuinely think this is him singing, but it isn’t! I love this experimental approach to modern R&B. Mk.gee is a wizard with his guitar, those hammer ons and offs, fingers dancing all around those frets, it’s amazing stuff. Genuine top talent. His unique voice and amazing range are just the nail in the coffin. Love the large empty room sound. Please, give this full album a listen.
